Ryan Giggs told medals won't make Wales national job any easier

Alison Bender and Stewart Robson discuss Ryan Giggs' appointment as the new manager of Wales and whether he can help them improve.
England's Gareth Southgate and Wales' Ryan Giggs react to the first ever UEFA Nations League draw and what it means for international football.
With Ryan Giggs in the running for the Wales job, Stevie Nicol and Mark Donaldson debate whether he can be as good of a coach as he was a player.

New Wales coach Ryan Giggs will find his playing career counts for little when he takes charge of his first match next month, according to the national women's team manager Jayne Ludlow.

Giggs was appointed as Chris Coleman's replacement last month, and his first game comes on March 22 when Wales take on the hosts in the China Cup in Nanning. They will then play either Uruguay or Czech Republic a few days later.

Ludlow, like Giggs, was Wales most decorated player before taking charge of the women's...

Wales boss Ryan Giggs won't rule out Paul Scholes joining coaching team

England's Gareth Southgate and Wales' Ryan Giggs react to the first ever UEFA Nations League draw and what it means for international football.

Ryan Giggs has refused to rule out the prospect of former Manchester United team-mate Paul Scholes joining his Wales coaching team.

Giggs is yet to confirm his backroom staff after signing a four-year contract to take over from Chris Coleman as Wales boss.

Scholes, who served as assistant when Giggs took charge of United for four games in 2014, has been linked with the job. And Giggs has hinted that they are already in discussions.

"I speak to Scholesy all the time. I saw him on Saturday at Salford...

Wales boss Ryan Giggs vows to aid Gareth Bale with fitness

Zinedine Zidane responds to ESPN's Real Madrid correspondent Dermot Corrigan in regards to Gareth Bale's fitness and future with the club.

New Wales manager Ryan Giggs believes his fitness expertise will help improve Gareth Bale's injury record.

Bale has suffered another injury-hit season at Real Madrid with calf and groin problems limiting him to only six starts in La Liga.

The 28-year-old also missed Wales' final two World Cup qualifiers as the nation missed out this summer's finals in Russia.

"It's about passing on your knowledge that you experienced as a player," said Giggs, who turned to yoga as he prolonged a stellar career at...

Gary Speed one of four Barry Bennell players who took own life, court told

Gary Speed was manager of the Wales national team when he took his own life in November, 2011.

Former Wales manager Gary Speed was one of four men who went on to take their own lives after being coached by Barry Bennell, a court has heard.

Liverpool Crown Court heard evidence from a victim who Bennell had admitted abusing in 1998, when he was jailed for nine years.

He told the court he tried to contact the parents of Speed, who hanged himself in 2011 aged 42, to tell them about the abuse.

The victim said: "Four people from teams I have played with, with Bennell, have taken their own lives."

Ryan Giggs defends Wales playing commitment after appointment

Ryan Giggs insisted he wanted to get back into management and that it was an honour to be appointed manager of Wales.

New Wales manager Ryan Giggs labelled criticism that he was not committed to the country during his playing days as "unfair."

Giggs captained Wales and won 64 caps in an international career spanning 16 years between 1991 and 2007.

But his regular withdrawal from Wales squads -- he did not feature in an international friendly until 2000 -- upset many fans who have questioned his commitment and voiced their displeasure with his appointment as Chris Coleman's successor.

The former Manchester United...
