Surprise entrants TS Galaxy don't think they'll win the Confed Cup, but...

South African second-tier team TS Galaxy's journey remains one of the most compelling narratives in African club football this year, as they prepare to face Madagascar's CnaPS Sport in a first round, first-leg match of the 2019/20 Confederation Cup this weekend.

TS Galaxy's very presence in the continental competition is a surprise, with the Mpumalanga-based club (which was only founded in 2015) stunning South Africa's so-called 'Cup Kings' Kaizer Chiefs in the final of the Nedbank Cup back in May...

Madagascar won't play South Africa - SAFA

South Africa's friendly international fixture against Madagascar on Saturday has been cancelled.

Madagascar pulled out of playing the game, amid xenophobic violence in Johannesburg and elsewhere in South Africa.

Madagascar had been a late replacement opponent after Zambia's soccer officials canceled plans to host South Africa for a game in Lusaka on Saturday, citing the same violence for their decision.

Madagascar said in a statement that they declined the match for security reasons.

Percy's Tao: The South Africa striker's winding road to Brugge

As a kid dashing through the streets, ball at feet, in the mining town of Witbank in Mpumalanga, South Africa striker Percy Tau was at his happiest.

Now, watching him, it's obvious nothing much has changed. Tau is still famously driven by this same child-like love and passion for football. It kept him going during a difficult childhood growing up, and it energised his efforts to make the sport his family's route out of hardship.

It was this same passion that inspired his success with...

Banyana skipper Van Wyk signs with Denmark pro club

South Africa women's national team captain Janine van Wyk has signed a one-year deal with Danish pro club Fortuna Hjorring, she announced on Saturday.

Van Wyk, who is South Africa's most capped international footballer, male or female, played at this year's Women's World Cup in France, but has been without a pro deal since leaving the Houston Dash at the end of the last NWSL season.

She spent two terms with the Dash before parting ways, and returned home to play with her own club, JvW FC, which...
