Mexico coach Gerardo "Tata" Martino may be without Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, Carlos Vela, Hector Herrera and Jesus "Tecatito" Corona for this summer's Gold Cup, but 21-year-old forward Alexis Vega still believes El Tri goes into the tournament as favorite.

"We've always seen that Mexico is favorite to be Gold Cup champion, we are conscious of the responsibility we have from day one that we turn up," said Vega in a press conference on Tuesday in Mexico City.

U.S. to host Cuba in first Nations League match

CONCACAF President Victor Montagliani explains where he feels the Gold Cup will be in five years, after recently expanding to a 16 team tournament.

The United States will host Cuba on Oct. 11 and Canada on Nov. 15 in the first CONCACAF Nations League.

CONCACAF said Tuesday that the Americans, seeded in Group A, will play at Canada on Oct. 15 and at Cuba on Nov. 19.

Meanwhile, Mexico will make its Nations League debut on Oct. 11 away against Bermuda, before hosting Panama four days later.

El Tri will then host Panama on Nov. 15 and close out against Bermuda four days later at home.

Wolverhampton Wanderers' Raul Jimenez said there in 'nothing to' comparisons with West Ham striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, but did say his Mexico teammate helped him settle into life in the Premier League.

Mexico national team goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa is looking to leave Belgian club Standard Liege this summer, with Sunday's game against Genk likely to be his last in the Belgian first division.

"There's still a game left, but I think it will be my last," said Ochoa after his team's 2-0 win over Club Brugge on Thursday, in quotes published on the league's website.

Mexico edges U.S. late for 4th straight U17 crown

U.S. Head Coach Gregg Berhalter joins the Heineken ESPN FC Boot Room to talk all things Gold Cup and his ambition to win the tournament.

Israel Luna scored the tie-breaking goal in the 108th minute, and Mexico beat the United States 2-1 in extra time Thursday night to win its fourth straight CONCACAF Under-17 Championship.

Mexico has won eight CONCACAF Under-17 titles and the U.S. three, in 1983, 1992 and 2011. Costa Rica and Cuba have won one each.

The U.S., Mexico, Canada and Haiti qualified for the Under-17 World Cup by winning their quarterfinals. The tournament will be played in Brazil from Oct. 5-27.
