Malaysia coach Ong Kim Swee has no plans to adopt the defensive approach that earned Vietnam a surprise victory over Australia at the AFC U23 Championship when his side go into their must-win meeting with Saudi Arabia in Kunshan on Tuesday evening.

After their creditable 1-1 draw with Jordan on Saturday, the Malaysians need to take all three points in the Group D encounter against one of the giants of Asian football to have a chance of advancing to the last eight of the competition. But the former...

CHANGSHU -- Malaysia kept their hopes of a place in the knockout phase of the 2018 AFC U23 Championship alive as Safawi Rashid's first-half penalty earned Ong Kim Swee's side a 1-1 draw with Jordan on Saturday.

Safawi's spot kick cancelled out Ward Al Barri's opener, with both goals coming in the first half.

Ong and his team will feel they could have taken all three points after Akhyar Rashid and Matthew Davies both hit the post with second-half efforts.

Ong Kim Swee refuses to give up on Malaysia at AFC U23

On the back of their 4-1 defeat to Iraq, Jason Dasey and Dez Corkhill discuss what Malaysia's U23 side can learn from the AFC U23 Championship.

CHANGSHU - Malaysia coach Ong Kim Swee remains confident his team can make an impression on the AFC U23 Championship when they meet Jordan on Saturday, despite a chastening defeat in their tournament opener.

Ong's team were on the wrong end of a 4-1 thrashing against Iraq, a nation that has a strong record at this level having won the tournament in 2014 and reached the semifinals -- qualifying for the Olympic Games as a result -- two years ago.

Next up is a Jordan side that conceded two late goals...
