AFCON qualifying winners and losers

KweséESPN takes a look at the biggest winners and losers after the first four match days of Africa Cup of Nations 2019 qualifying.

WINNERS

First Qualifiers
There can be no bigger winner than Madagascar, who became the first country to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. The homeland of the CAF president did so in record-breaking style -- first, with two full games to spare, and doing so for the first time in their history. Great news for the country, although television commentators...

Nigeria player ratings: Which Super Eagles impressed vs. Libya?

For the second game in a row, Odion Ighalo stole the headlines as Nigeria boosted their hopes of reaching the Africa Cup of Nations with a 3-2 victory over Libya in Sfax.

The Super Eagles hitman followed up on his hat-trick in the first match against the North Africans on Saturday with a double - including a late winner - as Gernot Rohr made it three consecutive qualifying victories.

The three points take Nigeria up to top position in Group E, and in pole position to qualify for Cameroon 2019.

Libya vs. Nigeria: What to expect

Libya and Nigeria play each other for a second time in three days, the reverse fixture in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations double-header qualifier, at the Stade Taieb Mhiri, Sfax, Tunisia on Tuesday.

Ahead of the encounter, which will either consolidate or revive qualification hopes for both teams, KweséESPN lists three things to expect from the game on Tuesday.

Key players missing for both teams: Injury and suspensions will deny both Nigeria and Libya the availability of key players, a blow for...

With barely enough time for rest and recuperation between Saturday's game in Uyo, five hours flight to Tunisia and the reverse fixture on Tuesday, Gernot Rohr is not looking to shake up his Nigeria team.

The German is expected to name essentially the same side which started and hammered the Libyans 4-0 over the weekend, bar one enforced change.

Shehu Abdullahi, who suffered a muscle injury and did not travel with the squad, will be replaced in the starting eleven...

Odion Ighalo scored twice - including an 81st-minute winner - as Nigeria overcame Libya's comeback to win 3-2 in North Africa and move into pole position in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying group.

The Super Eagles took an early two-goal lead in Sfax following goals from Ighalo and Ahmed Musa inside the first 17 minutes.

Libya battled back and levelled after strikes from Mohamed Zubya in the 35th minute and Ahmad Benali's 74th-minute equaliser.

However, they were undone in the 81st minute when...
