The Republic of Ireland will join England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in exploring a potential bid for the 2030 World Cup.

The English Football Association had already announced plans to assess a bid with Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and Football Association Ireland said in statement released Wednesday that it would join the feasibility study "following recent positive discussions."

England, who hosted the 1966 World Cup, failed in bids to host the event in 2006 and 2018.

Chris Smalling: England snub for World Cup motivates me at Manchester United

Shaka Hislop saw a complete performance from Manchester United in their win over Watford, but still sees room for improvement.
Gab Marcotti breaks down his best XI from the fifth week of Premier League action and defends his exclusion of Andriy Yarmolenko.
Manchester United ended up with ten men but still managed to pick up their second consecutive away victory in the Premier League.

WATFORD, England -- Chris Smalling is hoping to turn his World Cup disappointment into a positive by re-establishing himself at Manchester United.

The defender, who has 31 caps, was axed from the England squad by manager Gareth Southgate in the build-up to the tournament in Russia and has been overlooked for games against Spain and Switzerland this season.

He was also left out by Jose Mourinho for the first two games of the new campaign but the 28-year-old helped United to their first clean sheet...

Tottenham's Harry Winks could be England's Xavi, Iniesta - Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino discusses Hugo Lloris drink-driving offence, revealing the goalkeeper is punishing himself for his mistake.

Mauricio Pochettino says Harry Winks could be as influential for England as Xavi and Andres Iniesta have been for Spain if he can learn to play through pain in his ankle.

Tottenham's 22-year-old midfielder underwent surgery in the summer and has only made three brief substitute appearances so far this season. But he could soon return to Spurs' starting line-up and, while Pochettino is wary of overhyping the youngster, he believes he could be a key figure for club and country.

Marcus Rashford ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane at same age - Southgate

Gareth Southgate praises Marcus Rashford after the Manchester United striker scored the winning goal in England's victory over Switzerland.
England and Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford made it two goals in two consecutive games, providing England's winner against Switzerland.
As Marcus Rashford keeps scoring for England, the FC crew discuss whether he should leave Man United in search of minutes in a central position.

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has developed further as a player than Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Kane had when they were the same age, according to England manager Gareth Southgate.

Rashford scored in both of England's matches in September, and the 20-year-old was compared favourably to 2018 World Cup Golden Boot winner Kane and five-time Ballon d'Or holder Ronaldo by his international boss.

When asked is he felt Rashford was a "special talent" after Tuesday's win over Switzerland, southgate...

England's Danny Rose: Players held inquest after 'embarrassing' first half vs. Switzerland

England and Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford made it two goals in two consecutive games, providing England's winner against Switzerland.
As Marcus Rashford keeps scoring for England, the FC crew discuss whether he should leave Man United in search of minutes in a central position.

England defender Danny Rose has revealed the players did not hold back from criticising each other at half-time following a bad start to Tuesday's win over Switzerland.

England, who made nine changes to the starting line-up for the friendly in Leicester, allowed Switzerland to control the match in the first half but returned much sharper to secure the 1-0 win through forward Marcus Rashford's 54th-minute strike.

"It was a bit embarrassing," Tottenham Hotspur left-back Rose told BBC Radio 5 live....
