Jill Scott celebrates scoring England's second with her teammates
Jill Scott celebrates scoring England's second with her teammates.

Goals from Nikita Parris and Gill Scott earned England a 2-0 victory over Denmark in their penultimate World Cup warm-up friendly, but it was far from comfortable for Phil Neville's side.

England were below par in the opening exchanges at Walsall's Bescot Stadium and could have been behind before Parris' opener in first half stoppage time.

Denmark's Signe Bruun saw a goal controversially ruled out for handball on 43 minutes. There will be use of the video assistant referee at the World Cup...

Denmark Women qualifier against Sweden called off in pay dispute

Denmark
The Denmark Women's team reached the Euro 2017 final.

Denmark Women's World Cup qualifier against Sweden has been cancelled due to an ongoing pay dispute.

The team refused to play a friendly against Netherlands last month in protest over pay and conditions.

The Danish Football Association (DBU) announced on its website on Wednesday that it had informed its Swedish counterpart that Friday's match in Gothenburg was off.

"It is a historically bad day for the women's team and for Danish football overall," DBU senior vice-president Kim Hallberg said.

The Netherlands became women's European champions for the first time with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Denmark on home soil.

Having swept aside Euro 2017 favourites England 3-0 in the semifinals, the Netherlands fought back from an early setback to send the sell-out Enschede crowd wild.

Vivianne Miedema (2), Lieke Martens and Sherida Spitse scored for the hosts, with Nadia Madim and Pernille Harder on target for Denmark in a first half which ended 2-2.

The Danes were ahead after six minutes when...

Holders Germany knocked out of Women's Euro; England advance

Jordie Taylor's goal on a counter-attack propelled England past France into the semi-finals of the European Championship.

A late Denmark winner saw holders Germany eliminated from Women's Euro 2017 in the quarterfinals.

Germany, seeking their seventh European trophy in a row, took the lead through Isabel Kerschowski after only three minutes.

But an equaliser four minutes into the second half from Nadia Nadim gave Denmark new belief, and Theresa Nielsen sealed their win with a header inside the final 10 minutes.

Kerschowski's early strike, misjudged by keeper Stina Lykke Petersen, had seemed likely to herald a dominant...

England geared up for the Women's European Championships with a 2-1 friendly victory over Denmark as captain-for-the-night Ellen White marked the honour with a brace.

Mark Sampson's side were playing their final warm-up match before the tournament in the Netherlands begins later this month, and emerged victorious thanks to White's 22nd and 23rd international goals.

The Danes posed the Lionesses plenty of problems in Copenhagen and had gone level through the dangerous Pernille Harder's free-kick...
