Elsewhere, England endured a miserable tournament, limping through the group stages before an abject 2-1 defeat to Iceland in the round of 16 cost Roy Hodgson his job.

Iceland were one of the stories of the competition, though, reaching the quarterfinals before bowing out to the hosts. Similarly, Wales also captured the imagination following their...

With the Euro 2016 round-of-16 stage done and dusted, the bracket is down to eight teams. Miguel Delaney takes a look at how they rank among the 24-team field.

1. GERMANY (+2)Germany finally sparked to life with a full-blooded display and made the most of their brilliant talent as they thrashed Slovakia 3-0. If they keep that up, no one will be able to take them down.

2. ITALY (+2): Italy put in the performance of the tournament so far, as they tactically outclassed Spain...
