Goalkeeper in Colombian league banned 8 matches for racist comments

A goalkeeper in the Colombian football league has been suspended for eight matches and fined $10,400 for making racist comments.

Rionegro goalkeeper Lucero Alvarez was sanctioned by the league on Wednesday. Once Caldas coach Huber Bodhert, with whom Alvarez traded insults, was suspended for two matches for offensive language.

They argued at the end of Rionegro's 1-0 victory on Monday in the Colombia championship.

Jackson Martinez joins Portimonense on loan from Guanzghou Evergrande

Jackson Martinez has returned to Europe after signing a season-long loan deal with Portimonense who currently sit bottom of the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

Martinez is still officially contracted to Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande, but has not played an official match since 2016. The former Porto striker insisted he would show "maximum dedication and commitment" and claimed he would be "wrong to think about scoring before a match," during his unveiling.
