Diego Simeone praises Atletico Madrid's 'precision' after Eibar win

Craig Burley and Steve Nicol say the title race is back on in La Liga after Real Madrid's loss to Sevilla.

Diego Simeone was full of praise for his Atletico Madrid players after their 3-0 home win over Eibar in the Copa Del Rey quarterfinal first leg on Thursday.

The Vicente Calderon crowd was treated to a good performance with goals from Antoine Griezmann, Angel Correa and Kevin Gameiro giving Atletico a strong advantage going into next Wednesday's second leg.

Simeone, who has seen his side struggle with inconsistent form this season is thrilled that his attackers made a strong impact, especially midfielder...

Lionel Messi should have seen red card, says furious Asier Illarramendi

Craig Burley and Steve Nicol say the title race is back on in La Liga after Real Madrid's loss to Sevilla.

Asier Illarramendi was furious Lionel Messi was not sent off as Barcelona beat Real Sociedad 1-0 in the Copa del Rey on Thursday to end a 10-year wait for a win at Anoeta.

Messi was booked in the first half for time wasting and Illarramendi felt he should then have seen a second yellow card for obstruction when he stopped him taking a quick free kick after the break. Messi has only been sent off once in his career for club and country on his debut for Argentina against Hungary in 2005.

Neymar's penalty wins it for Barcelona at least happy hunting ground La Real

Craig Burley and Steve Nicol say the title race is back on in La Liga after Real Madrid's loss to Sevilla.

Nine-and-a-half years on, Barcelona finally exorcised the ghosts of Anoeta and left San Sebastian with a 1-0 win over Real Sociedad that sets them up nicely for next week's Copa del Rey second leg.

This was no vintage display from Luis Enrique's side, however, and things could have gone the other way again had the home team taken their chances. Barca also squandered opportunities, particularly Neymar, but most supporters would have gladly taken the offer of a 1-0 away win at Barca's least happy...

Andres Iniesta set for tests after injuring calf in Barcelona's win

Andres Iniesta, right, could not finish Barcelona's victory over Real Sociedad.

Andres Iniesta will have tests on a calf problem on Friday after being forced off during Barcelona's 1-0 Copa del Rey win over Real Sociedad.

Neymar scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot as Barca ended a 10-year wait for a win at Anoeta, but the victory was tainted by Iniesta's injury.

The midfielder was replaced by Andre Gomes at half-time after complaining of a light pain and the Blaugrana will hope that the knock is nothing serious.

A statement from the club after the game confirmed:...

Barcelona won at the Anoeta for the first time in nearly a decade to take a 1-0 lead after the first leg of the Copa del Rey quarterfinal clash with Real Sociedad.

Neymar won a penalty and then got up to convert it to give the Catalans a first win in San Sebastian since a 2-0 La Liga success in May 2007.

It was only the Brazilian's eighth goal of the season but it helped strengthen Barcelona's grip on the trophy they have won each of the past two years ahead of the return leg at the Nou Camp in...
