Celtic legend Billy McNeill, first Briton to lift European Cup, dies aged 79

Billy McNeill served Celtic with distinction as both player and manager.

Billy McNeill, who as Celtic captain became the first British player to lift the European Cup, has died at the age of 79.

McNeill, who had suffered from dementia, captained Celtic's "Lisbon Lions" team to victory over Inter Milan in the 1967 final in Portugal and was a Scotland international.

His glittering career with Celtic saw him win a host of trophies, including nine consecutive Scottish league titles and seven Scottish Cups.

Steven Gerrard accepted a charge of misconduct after Sunday's loss to Celtic.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has been handed a one-match touchline ban after accepting a charge of misconduct following Sunday's 2-1 defeat in the Scottish Premiership by Glasgow rivals Celtic.

The Scottish FA said the former England captain had taken a fixed offer.

The Daily Record reported Gerrard made comments to referee Bobby Madden after the loss at Celtic Park.

United States forward Tim Weah said it was an "amazing feeling" to celebrate a goal in his first start for two months in Celtic's 2-0 win at St. Mirren in the Scottish Premier League on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old put Celtic ahead in the 15th minute Wednesday night with a three-yard header that bounced in off the crossbar. Mikael Lustig's initial shot was stopped by goalkeeper Václav Hladky, and Lustig crossed to Weah in front of the goal.

Rangers boss Gerrard draws line with striker Morelos after fifth sending off

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has finally lost patience with striker Alfredo Morelos after the Colombian was sent off for a fifth time this season during their 2-1 Scottish Premiership defeat at Old Firm rivals Celtic on Sunday.

Morelos was shown a red card for elbowing Celtic captain Scott Brown in an off-the-ball incident with just half an hour gone at Celtic Park.
