Bolasie & Abraham can fire Aston Villa back to the Premier League

Aston Villa fans may get the chance to get a first glimpse of Steve Bruce's new-look Villains side when they take on Blackburn Rovers in EFL Championship action this Saturday.

The experienced Bruce has brought in two African players - Yannick Bolasie of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Anglo-Nigerian forward Tammy Abraham - on loan, as he attempts to restore the fallen giants to the top tier.

The duo have a point to prove after struggling in the Premier League last term, and ex-Zambia assistant...

Yannick Bolasie pulls out of Democratic Republic of Congo squad

Aston Villa new boy Yannick Bolasie is the headline withdrawal from the Democratic Republic of Congo squad to face Liberia in this weekend's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The wideman is one of four players set to miss the match in Monrovia as he continues to find his way back to full fitness.

29-year-old Bolasie moved to Villa Park from Everton on loan on August 25, but is yet to make his Championship debut for the Villains.

According to a statement on the Congolese Football Federation's website,...

Everton's Yannick Bolasie joins Aston Villa on season-long loan

Richarlison's hot start at Everton has the FC crew pondering whether the Toffees can challenge the top six, or if seventh place is their ceiling.
Everton newcomer Richarlison scored his third goal in two matches to secure a win for the Toffees over Southampton in his debut at Goodison Park.
Jonathan Kodjia scored a brace for Aston Villa, his second coming in the 95th minute, to cancel out two goals from Neal Maupay and steal a point away from Brentford.

Everton winger Yannick Bolasie has joined Aston Villa on a season-long loan.

Bolasie becomes Villa's fourth loan signing of the summer after Andre Moreira, Axel Tuanzebe and Anwar El Ghazi.

They have also signed Orjan Nyland and John McGinn on permanent deals as Steve Bruce looks to mount another promotion challenge.

"I'm here to make myself smile again and use all of my ability to try and help the team," he told Aston Villa's YouTube channel. "It's great to be here."

Wayne Rooney, Everton lack ambition, creativity again vs. Swansea

A campaign that began with genuine hopes of progress is instead ending with Everton manager Sam Allardyce lauding the mediocre, describing a 1-1 draw at Swansea on Saturday as a "great point."

This pitiful embrace of mediocrity is turning a storied club into an irrelevance. There is no scenario in which settling for a point against the team fourth from bottom in the league is acceptable. Yet here was Allardyce going one step further and actively protecting a point, introducing centre-back Ramiro...

Could Everton's Yannick Bolasie add style to Sam Allardyce's steel?

Everton's revival under Sam Allardyce continued on Wednesday with a workmanlike, and at times fortunate, 1-0 victory over Newcastle United that had all the hallmarks of 'Big Sam's' teams.

The Merseysiders were organised in defence, worked hard for each other, were cynical in their timewasting at times, and took one of the few chances they created as a rejuvenated Wayne Rooney took his Premier League tally for the season to nine goals.

Ten points from the last 12 available, and just a single goal...

Everton boost as Yannick Bolasie back in training after knee injury

Yannick Bolasie trained with his Everton teammates on Wednesday as the winger stepped up his rehabilitation from a long-term knee injury.

The session at Finch Farm, ahead of Thursday's Europa League clash with Atalanta, saw Bolasie training with the senior squad for the first time since sustaining anterior cruciate ligament damage to his right knee on Dec. 4 last year.

Club captain Phil Jagielka and fellow defender Mason Holgate were notable absentees from the session, along with midfielder Morgan...
