Source: PSG's Marco Verratti trains but status unclear for Manchester United

France legend Frank Leboeuf joins ESPN FC to talk the ramifications for PSG should they fail to progress in the Champions League for yet another season.
From the heroics of Lionel Messi and Gervinho to PSG's first defeat of the season, here's how the top clubs in Europe fared at the weekend.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti trained on Thursday, despite coach Thomas Tuchel telling the press that he has a new injury problem after Wednesday's 3-0 Coupe de France round of 16 win over Villefranche Beaujolais in Lyon, a source close to the club has told ESPN FC.

The Italy international did not feature during the extra time victory at Groupama Stadium, despite having been back in training after a recent sprained left ankle since the beginning of the week, and the source explained that Verratti was out on the pitch again on Thursday. Tuchel had hinted at bad news in Lyon, but his ability to train the next day means that there is hope that he could feature against Bordeaux in Ligue 1 this weekend and away at Manchester United in the Champions League last 16 next week.

"Marco was unable to finish training on Tuesday," said the German. "He had problems and I have to wait until Thursday to be able to take a decision over playing him against Bordeaux.

"Marco's new issue is something else [not the same ankle], but I do not really know much more."

According to the source, the new issue in question was a thigh concern on Tuesday, and Tuchel is likely to decide on Verratti's potential involvement against Bordeaux on Friday -- the coach is due for a pre-match press conference in the early afternoon, so will likely explain his thinking then.

Tuchel has already been deprived of star man Neymar due to a metatarsal injury, so losing Verratti for the trip to Old Trafford would be another big blow, but the Italian's ability to at least train gives PSG hope ahead of the crucial continental clash.
