MELBOURNE -- Southeast Asian champions Thailand will look to take advantage of an Australia team carrying the burden of expectation of trying to qualify for a fourth successive World Cup, according to playmaker Chanathip Songkrasin.

Thai star Chanathip Songkrasin in ACL
Chanathip Songkrasin has now played two games for Japan's Consadole Sapporo in different competitions.

Thailand's Chanathip Songkrasin starred on his J.League debut on Saturday as Consadole Sapporo defeated 10-man Urawa Reds 2-0.

Three days after making his first appearance as a substitute in the Levain Cup defeat at Cerezo Osaka, the playmaker, who is on loan from Muang Thong United, played for just over an hour before being substituted with his side a goal up.

In an interesting twist of fate, it was former Muang Thong striker Jay Bothroyd who replaced Chanathip and went on to add the clinching...

Jason Dasey and PJ Roberts assess Chanathip Songkrasin's move to the J-League and what to expect moving forward.

Thailand playmaker Chanathip Songkrasin impressed on his debut for J-League side Consadole Sapporo, despite his new club falling to a 1-0 defeat to Cerezo Osaka in the Levain Cup.

Last month, Chanathip moved to Japan on an 18-month loan deal from Thai champions Muang Thong United, and has been waiting patiently to become eligible for his first competitive appearance.
