Mexico, Argentina to play friendly in San Antonio

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti shares his prediction for Brazil-Paraguay, as the Selecao look to end their quarterfinal curse against La Albirroja.
The ESPN FC crew look ahead to Argentina's matchup with Venezuela and question if Messi and company can leave their group stage struggles behind them.

Mexico will face Argentina in a Sept. 10 friendly at the Alamodome in San Antonio, marking the first time that Mexico coach Gerardo "Tata" Martino will face off against the Argentina squad he managed from 2014 to 2016.

Argentina, currently the 11th ranked team in the world according to FIFA, has played Mexico on 30 occasions, with Mexico winning four times, Argentina 14, with 12 draws.

The two teams last met in back-to-back games played on November 16 and 20, 2018, in Argentina, with the home side winning both matches 2-0.

The match will come five days after Argentina plays Chile in a friendly in Los Angeles.

Mexico play Costa Rica on Saturday in the Gold Cup quarterfinals, while Argentina play Venezuela on Friday in the same round at the Copa America.
