Ex-Argentina boss Jorge Sampaoli to join Brazilian club Santos

Could Jorge Sampaoli repair his image with Mexico?
Jorge Sampaoli has been out of work since coaching Argentina at the 2018 World Cup.

Former Argentina and Chile manager Jorge Sampaoli has reached an agreement to join Brazilian club Santos, the club has announced.

Details of the deal have yet to be divulged, though Sampaoli's lawyer said earlier on Thursday that his salary would likely not exceed R$1 million ($260,000) per month.

The 58-year-old Sampaoli has not coached since managing Argentina at the World Cup in Russia this past summer where the Albiceleste fell to eventual champions France in the round of 16.

Luiz Felipe Scolari confirms contact from Colombia over manager role

Luiz Felipe Scolari confirmed he has been offered the chance to manage the Colombia national team
Luiz Felipe Scolari told ESPN Brasil that Colombia have been in contact.

Former Brazil boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has confirmed he has been contacted by Colombian Football Federation over the national team's vacant manager role.

Scolari led Palmeiras to the 2018 title and, speaking at the Brazilian Bola de Prata awards, said he will consider the opportunity now that the season is over.

"There has been an approach, yes [by Colombia]," he told ESPN Brasil. "It is a role which, now that the season is over, we can think about more clearly.

"Over the past 20, 25 years, I have...

In such circumstances, it seems crass in the extreme to state that Chapecoense are fighting for their first-division survival this weekend. Such metaphors lose all their meaning when measured against true tragedy.

Nevertheless, there is a connection. Because all of the emotion engendered by the disaster needs to be channelled somehow. And the...

Ex-Brazil boss Luiz Felipe Scolari leads Palmeiras to Brazilian title

Felipe Scolari took over a Palmeiras side who were seventh in the table.

Palmeiras won the Brazilian championship with a match to spare when they won 1-0 at Vasco da Gama on Sunday, bringing their coach Luiz Felipe Scolari another major title at the age of 70.

Scolari, Brazil coach when they won their fifth World Cup in 2002 and also in charge of the side humiliated 7-1 at home by Germany on home soil in 2014, took over in July with Palmeiras lying seventh, eight points behind the leaders.

Under the leadership of the man who also took Portugal to the European Championship...
