Thierry Henry would be 'very good' for Bordeaux - Nice's Patrick Vieira

Nice coach Patrick Vieira believes former France and Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry will do well should he begin his managerial career at Bordeaux.

Henry is reportedly close to accepting the job after Gus Poyet was suspended by the club last week for a dispute over the sale of forward Gaetan Laborde to Montpellier.

"It would be very good for Bordeaux," Vieira said at a news conference. "It would be very good for him. It would be very good for Ligue 1 because of his notoriety. I know he's someone who really wants to be a coach and he has the means to succeed. He has had a lot of experiences. I think it would be a great thing for football because he has a lot to contribute and a lot to give."

Henry, an assistant to Belgium coach Roberto Martinez during the World Cup, gave up his role as a Sky Sports analyst last month in order to pursue coaching opportunities.

Since then, he has been linked to replace Steve Bruce at Aston Villa and succeed Hector Cuper with Egypt, but Bruce has remained with the club and Egypt appointed Javier Aguirre.

"[Henry] wants to be a coach," Vieira said. "He has had his offers and he has made his choice and has the means to succeed. He wants to be a coach. Whether it's for Bordeaux or another challenge, it would be good for him and it would be good for football as well."

Eric Bedouet was appointed the caretaker beginning with Bordeaux's 2-1 defeat away at Toulouse on Sunday.
