Zimbabwe scored two last-gasp goals to edge past Somalia and avoid a humiliating exit in World Cup qualification as the last of the African group phase places were decided on Tuesday.

A deflected Admiral Muskwe header in the 86th minute and a stoppage time goal from Khama Billiat saw Zimbabwe to a 3-1 home win over Somalia to take the tie by the odd goal in five on aggregate and advance to the second round of the qualifiers.

Sierra Leone captain Umaru Bangura missed a stoppage time penalty against Liberia.

Sierra Leone captain Umaru Bangura had his house attacked by angry fans after missing a penalty which saw his country miss out on qualification for the next stage of the 2022 World Cup.

Bangura saw his stoppage time penalty saved by 18-year-old Liberia goalkeeper Ashley Williams, which meant they lost the tie 3-2 on aggregate, having won the match 1-0.

After the match, supporters pelted his house in the country's capital Freetown with stones, while a song has even been released which mocks the miss.

Angola and Togo made encouraging starts in their bids to reach the 2022 World Cup finals with positive away results in the first legs of their first round ties that put them closer to a place in next year's group qualifying phase.

Angola defender Wilson Gaspar scored the winner in a 1-0 victory against Gambia while Togo drew 1-1 in the Comoros Islands on Friday, with the return legs to come on Tuesday.
