Fulham edge Sheffield United in nine-goal thriller, Cardiff into second

Ryan Sessegnon led Fulham to a victory over title contenders Sheffield United.

Ryan Sessegnon and Leon Clarke both scored hat tricks as Fulham edged a goal-laden game 5-4 to end a six-match drought and stop Sheffield United going to the top of the Championship on Tuesday.

Sessegnon's treble, in addition to two goals from Sheyi Ojo, had put the Cottagers in a seemingly commanding position at 5-2 up before Clarke completed his second successive hat trick at Bramall Lane, after Samir Carruthers had also scored, to threaten the comeback.

But Fulham held on to record their first...

Brentford had to settle for a point in a dour 1-1 draw with Sky Bet Championship away draw experts Burton.

Florian Jozefzoon gave the Bees the lead just after the break with a delightful curling free-kick up and over the wall that left goalkeeper Stephen Bywater rooted to his line.

But Burton levelled when Joe Sbarra's searching diagonal cross was headed home at the far post by the unmarked Ben Turner on 78 minutes.

It was reward for a Burton side who parked the bus against wave after wave of Brentford...

Reading battled back with two goals inside the last 15 minutes to earn a 2-2 draw at Bolton

First-half headed goals from Reece Burke and Darren Pratley put Phil Parkinson's side 2-0 up as they chased just a third Championship win of the season.

But Reading eventually turned overwhelming possession into goals as Liam Moore pulled one back before Leandro Bacuna scored from the spot with seven minutes left.

The draw extends Bolton's unbeaten run to seven games but they remain in the relegation zone.

Cardiff overtook Sheffield United and moved into second place in the Sky Bet Championship table after a late Callum Paterson goal snatched a 1-0 victory for the Bluebirds at Barnsley.

The ball fell to the Scotsman after a goalmouth scramble and he made no mistake, firing into the roof of the net to settle matters seven minutes from time.

The result lifted Cardiff a point above the Blades, who lost 5-4 at home to Fulham on Tuesday evening.

The first chance arrived after nine minutes when Danny Ward's...
