Wellington Phoenix put on a show in the first half of their game against Western Sydney Wanderers.

Mark Rudan was too emotional to talk about the latest win for his Wellington Phoenix, saying the 3-1 win over Western Sydney had little meaning in the wake of the Christchurch terror attacks.

A teary Rudan ended his news conference after two questions, taking little joy from a dominant performance from his fourth-placed team at Westpac Stadium on Sunday that lifts them within touching distance of a finals berth.

A week after the delight of an 8-2 rout of Central Coast, Rudan was downcast and his...

Olyroos call-ups 'a disaster' for Western Sydney Wanderers - Markus Babbel

Melbourne City blow two goal lead late, settle for draw versus Glory
Koutroumbis and Petratos score as Jets beat Melbourne Victory on the road.

Markus Babbel has broadened his criticism at losing three players to the Olyroos program, describing it as a disaster for Western Sydney Wanderers and detrimental to Australian football.

The Wanderers will be without midfielder Keanu Baccus, attacker Abraham Majok and defender Tass Mourdoukoutas for Sunday's A-League match against Wellington because they are attending a week-long camp for the Australian under-23 team in Kuala Lumpur.

Babbel believes club coaches will become increasingly reluctant...

Western Sydney boss Markus Babbel slams loss of players to Olyroos

Markus Babbel's most recent coaching job before Western Sydney Wanderers was at Swiss club Luzern
Markus Babbel will see three of his Western Sydney players called up to Olyroos camp later this month.

Western Sydney Wanderers A-League coach Markus Babbel has hit out at losing three of his players to the Australian under-23 team.

Coach Graham Arnold on Wednesday named a squad of 24 who will convene for a week-long camp in Kuala Lumpur, where they will play three friendlies. The squad will be cut by one for the three AFC U23 Championship qualifiers in Phnom Penh, where they have been grouped with Cambodia (March 22), Chinese Taipei (March 24) and Korea Republic (March 26).

The A-League players...

Giancarlo Gallifuoco joins the Western Sydney Wanderers

Melbourne City blow two goal lead late, settle for draw versus Glory
Koutroumbis and Petratos score as Jets beat Melbourne Victory on the road.

Defender Giancarlo Gallifuoco has been handed a career lifeline after signing with the Western Sydney Wanderers as an A-League injury replacement for midfielder Jordan O'Doherty.

Gallifuoco, 25, who had an unsuccessful stint with Melbourne Victory in 2015-16, will join the Western Sydney until the end of the season after O'Doherty injured his anterior cruciate ligament in the Wanderers' 1-1 draw with Perth Glory in round 20.

Ex-Australian under-23 representative Gallifuoco spent time with English...
