Brisbane Roar continued their resurgence in the A-League after a 1-0 win over the Wellington Phoenix.

Young gun Dylan Wenzel-Halls came off the bench to secure the Brisbane Roar a 1-0 A-League win over Wellington Phoenix at a rain-lashed Suncorp Stadium.

The 22-year-old forward, who hadn't featured for the Roar since mid-December, made the most of his second-half substitute's appearance to score the only goal of Saturday's game in the 69th minute.

Wenzel-Hall's strike extends Brisbane's unbeaten run to four games, and moves them up to seventh on the ladder, just a point outside the top six.

A-League midseason review: Sydney FC, Melbourne City lead the pack

Sydney continue their impressive form vs. Newcastle jets to move further clear at the top of the A-League.
Two extra-time goals help end Central Coast Mariners drought against Melbourne Victory in a 3-2 win.
Richarlison's goal led Everton to a win vs. Brighton, while Mat Ryan gave to bushfire relief with each save.
Perth Glory made it five on the trot in a stellar display against a woeful Adelaide with a 3-0 win.
A blockbuster first half fizzled in the second as Brisbane Roar and Melbourne City failed to best one another.
Wellington Phoenix matched their club's unbeaten streak record with ease against a disappointing Wanderers.

We are near the midway point -- curse you, uneven rounds and byes -- of the A-League season. It's time for some perspective.

To this point, it appears the competition this season is broken up into three tiers, as reflected by the ladder: Sydney, Melbourne City to Adelaide United, then the rest. It's the A-League, though, so anything can happen between now and the time the Toilet Seat is lifted in triumph.

Anyway...

The ladder does not lie. Sydney have unquestionably been the A-League's...

Sydney, Newcastle and disparity

Sydney FC's 2-1 win at the Newcastle Jets on Friday night underlined a few things. First, in relation to the reigning champions, Milos Ninkovic was and remains vitally important and decent results in his absence do not necessarily change that.

After breaking clear of Nick Fitzgerald, the weight on his pass -- so Kosta Barbarouses, running at full speed, does not have to take a touch before...

Ulises Davila's electric A-League season has continued with a blinding goal in Wellington's 2-0 win over Western Sydney, leaving visiting coach Markus Babbel under palpable pressure.

Babbel cut his post-match press conference short after his 10th-placed team suffered a seventh loss in their last nine outings, his team having struggled to create any clear-cut changes at Sky Stadium on Saturday.

The Phoenix conversely stretched their unbeaten streak to nine games, equalling the club record they set...
