Vancouver Whitecaps' Kei Kamara out at least three matches with groin injury

Kei Kamara has accounted for five goals this season.

Vancouver Whitecaps forward Kei Kamara will miss at least the next three matches with a groin injury, coach Carl Robinson has confirmed.

Kamara, who suffered the injury in training last week, will likely be out until Vancouver's May 11 matchup with the Houston Dynamo.

"It's not ideal," Robinson said after the Whitecaps' practice on Monday. "Any team that losses a key player, and Kei is a key player for us, is going to be affected.

"Losing Kei is a big blow, but we have to find solutions...

Carlos Vela and Diego Rossi scored in the second half to help expansion LAFC beat Vancouver 2-0 on Friday night to end the Vancouver Whitecaps' 11-game Major League Soccer home unbeaten streak.

Marco Urena assisted on both goals to help LAFC end a two-game losing streak.

The defeat, before a crowd of 22,120 at BC Place Stadium, marked the first time in over a year Vancouver lost back-to-back games. The Whitecaps were beaten 2-1 on the road by Real Salt Lake last Saturday.

Perhaps no team in MLS has achieved more with less attention paid than the Whitecaps.

Los Angeles FC has never lacked for attention. From the moment of its unveiling as an MLS expansion franchise, with a ceremony attended by co-owners as famous and as varied as Earvin "Magic" Johnson and Tony Robbins, eyeballs have naturally gravitated in its direction. From its objectively cool logo to its corny but catchy way of unveiling new signings on social media, LAFC was a marketing sensation long before it actually set foot on the field.
