Alejandro Moreno discusses Toby Alderweireld's growth at Tottenham and where he fits among the top centre-backs in world football.

Belgium coach Roberto Martinez has backed Tottenham's handling of fit-again Toby Alderweireld but said the defender had wanted to play against Juventus last week.

Alderweireld continued his comeback from a long-term hamstring injury when he played 90 minutes against Rochdale in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday, having returned in the fourth-round replay win over Newport County on Feb. 7.

In between, Alderweireld was left out of the squad for the matches against Arsenal and Juventus, although Spurs...

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino: Status means nothing in FA Cup

ESPN FC's Craig Burley reacts to the FA Cup quarterfinal draw and predicts how Man United, Chelsea, Tottenham and Man City will fare.
League One bottom-feeders Rochdale stunned Tottenham with a 93rd-minute equaliser to force a fifth round FA Cup replay at Wembley.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino said the wealth and status of a club was irrelevant in the FA Cup after Spurs were held to a 2-2 draw at Rochdale on Sunday.

Spurs now face Rochdale, bottom of League One, in a fifth-round replay at Wembley after Steve Davis scored a stoppage-time equaliser to deny the Londoners victory.

Ian Henderson had given the underdogs the lead, but full debutant Lucas Moura equalised and an 88th-minute Harry Kane penalty looked to have put Spurs into the quarterfinals.

Lucas shines on full debut, but replay in order after Spurs draw at Rochdale

Tottenham's Lucas Moura celebrates scoring equaliser vs Rochdale
Lucas Moura scored in his first start for Tottenham in a 2-2 draw at League One Rochdale.

It was deja vu at half-time as, for the second time in a month, Tottenham found themselves trailing 1-0 away against lower-league opposition in the FA Cup. Spurs had battled back to grab a 1-1 draw against League One side Newport County on the previous occasion, and this time they seemed to have gone one better against League One's basement boys Rochdale.

When Lucas Moura's leveller was followed by an 88th-minute Harry Kane penalty, the north Londoners appeared to have avoided a replay. But...

Rochdale boss Keith Hill refuses to criticise Dele Alli over penalty incident

League One bottom-feeders Rochdale stunned Tottenham with a 93rd-minute equaliser to force a fifth round FA Cup replay at Wembley.

Rochdale manager Keith Hill defended the right of Dele Alli to win the penalty that almost knocked them out of the FA Cup, and said that if the midfielder won a penalty for England at the World Cup in similar circumstances he would cheer.

TV host and former Tottenham striker Gary Lineker said on Twitter that pundits Alan Shearer and Jermaine Jenas had told him they thought Alli had been fouled by Harrison McGahey.

Lineker tweeted: "The question was asked by me, 'Dele Alli has a reputation for diving,...
