DRC duo to pile more misery on Kompany's Anderlecht?

The return of Vincent Kompany to Belgium was supposed to be the fairy-tale story of the new Pro League season, but his Anderlecht side has struggled, and they face a challenge from Standard Liege's two DR Congo internationals this weekend.

The Royals announced, with much fanfare, the arrival of Kompany as player-coach at the end of last season, but so far the club legend's return to his boyhood team has been something of a nightmare.

They have yet to win in five matches and Kompany himself is sidelined...

Guillermo Ochoa returns to Club America

Herculez Gomez explains why the new Leagues Cup is a first step toward more direct competition between MLS and Liga MX.

MEXICO CITY -- Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa is set to return to Club America from Standard Liege, the Liga MX side announced on Tuesday evening.

Ochoa was thought to be intent on staying in Europe, but offloading Agustin Marchesin to Porto last week left America in need of a starting goalkeeper and the 34-year-old has chosen to return to the Mexico City club he made his professional debut for in 2004.

"'Memo' Ochoa is without doubt one of our fans most beloved players and one of the references...

Liga MX giant Club America is expected to reach a deal to bring Mexico international goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa back to Las Aguilas after seven seasons in Europe, sources have told ESPN FC.

Talks are advanced for the Standard Liege player and a deal could be struck as early as Tuesday, the sources said, although the Belgian first division club has tried to exercise a clause in the keeper's contract to retain him.

Sources: Ochoa's no-show due to travel issues

Herculez Gomez and Shaka Hislop weigh the pros and cons of CONCACAF's qualifying format for the 2022 World Cup, which emphasizes the FIFA rankings.

Mexico international Guillermo Ochoa didn't show up for training at Standard Liege on Sunday due to travel complications to Belgium, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Ochoa had been criticized on Sunday by Standard Liege's CEO Alexandre Grosjean for "lacking professionalism" in not turning up, which came as a surprise to Ochoa's camp, as the 34-year-old had made head coach Michel Preud'homme and club president Buno Venanzi aware of his delayed return to preseason, according to the sources.

Mexico's Ochoa: 'Time to leave' Standard Liege

USMNT's Gregg Berhalter praises the Mexican federation for its success in CONCACAF and says the organization has set the benchmark for MLS and U.S. Soccer.

Mexico national team goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa is looking to leave Belgian club Standard Liege this summer, with Sunday's game against Genk likely to be his last in the Belgian first division.

"There's still a game left, but I think it will be my last," said Ochoa after his team's 2-0 win over Club Brugge on Thursday, in quotes published on the league's website.

"We've already spoken with the club and there are things still to resolve, but I think it is the time to leave."
