Toronto FC beats Fire to hit 50 points; Ignacio Piatti stays hot for Montreal

Nicolas Hasler's first MLS goal secured three vital points for Toronto at Chicago in a battle of two of the East's best.

Nicolas Hasler scored his first MLS goal to boost league-leading Toronto FC to a 3-1 win at the Chicago Fire on Saturday night.

After Chicago could only half-clear the ball in the 63rd minute, Victor Vazquez lofted the ball back into the box and Hasler headed home the winner.

Marco Delgado had opened the scoring and Sebastian Giovinco added a late goal as Toronto widened its lead in the Eastern Conference to seven points ahead of New York City FC's game on Sunday.

WASHINGTON -- Luis Silva scored on a 64th minute strike to lift Real Salt Lake to a 1-0 victory over D.C. United on Sunday night in a match that was carried over from Saturday.

The game on Saturday was halted in the 29th minute because of a severe thunderstorm that put the field under water.

Silva intercepted a weak clearing pass near the top of the box and caught the ball on the bounce, volleying it into the far top corner for his second goal of the season to help RSL continue its second-half playoff...

Real Salt Lake coach Mike Petke fined by MLS for postgame rant

Real Salt Lake coach Mike Petke unleashed on referees in his press conference following their 1-1 draw against Sporting KC.
The Philadelphia Union thoroughly dominated FC Dallas at home, with CJ Sapong nabbing a brace, and VAR rearing its head.

MLS commissioner Don Garber has fined Real Salt Lake coach Mike Petke an "undisclosed amount" for his tirade against officials and the league's disciplinary review process following his side's match with Sporting Kansas City on July 22.

Midfielder Kyle Beckerman had been suspended for the game against Kansas City -- a punishment which Real Salt Lake was unsuccessful in overturning through appeal.

And Petke, who was ejected in the 72nd minute of the 1-1 draw, turned up at his postgame news conference...
