Odsonne Edouard celebrates after putting Celtic in front against Rangers.
Odsonne Edouard has a great record in the derby.

Celtic kept their 100% record and took the Scottish Premier League title initiative with a 2-0 win at Steven Gerrard's Rangers in the Old Firm derby on Sunday.

Rangers had the first chance as Jermain Defoe almost sneaked through the defensive line, but Hatem Elhamed slid in to clear before the striker could get his shot away just ahead of goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

Niko Katic headed wide from the resulting corner and Defoe had another opening on 30 minutes but was flagged offside.

Joe Aribo puts Old Firm Derby on Nigeria's radar

As rivalries go, the Old Firm Derby is one of the biggest in the world, but it's not one that Nigerian fans have paid much attention to... until now.

Glasgow Rangers will take on bitter rivals Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday, and Joe Aribo, a recent Super Eagles call-up, will don the blue kit in a rare instance of Nigerian-as-Ranger.

Aribo is not the first Nigerian to play in the Old Firm Derby. Sone Aluko is the most recent Super Eagle to do so, but he was already a known quantity by the time he joined...

Rangers' Gerrard given one-match touchline ban for misconduct

Steven Gerrard accepted a charge of misconduct after Sunday's loss to Celtic.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has been handed a one-match touchline ban after accepting a charge of misconduct following Sunday's 2-1 defeat in the Scottish Premiership by Glasgow rivals Celtic.

The Scottish FA said the former England captain had taken a fixed offer.

The Daily Record reported Gerrard made comments to referee Bobby Madden after the loss at Celtic Park.

In the match, Gerrard's side were reduced to 10 men after half an hour when Colombian Alfredo Morelos was sent off for a fifth...

Rangers boss Gerrard draws line with striker Morelos after fifth sending off

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has finally lost patience with striker Alfredo Morelos after the Colombian was sent off for a fifth time this season during their 2-1 Scottish Premiership defeat at Old Firm rivals Celtic on Sunday.

Morelos was shown a red card for elbowing Celtic captain Scott Brown in an off-the-ball incident with just half an hour gone at Celtic Park.

"I've gone above and beyond with Morelos. I can't defend that," said Gerrard, whose side slipped 13 points behind their fierce rivals...

Celtic grabbed a late winner as they beat 10-man Rangers 2-1 in the Old Firm Derby to go 13 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

The runaway leaders took a first-half lead through Odsonne Edouard but, after Rangers had Alfredo Morelos sent off for an elbow on Scott Brown, on-loan Liverpool winger Will Kent levelled for Steven Gerrard's side.

But with four minutes remaining, Callum McGregor and Edouard combined to find James Forrest, who fired home the crucial goal.
