Jordan Hugill's first-half strike was enough to earn Preston their second win of the season as Reading fell 1-0 at Deepdale.

Alex Neil's side missed a catalogue of chances to build on that lead but were never seriously tested by the Royals.

Preston have now won four of their last five meetings with Reading and have lost just one of their last 13 home league games.

The hosts came close to opening the scoring after eight minutes when Josh Harrop's corner was flicked on at the near post and came to centre-back...

Matej Vydra's penalty earned Derby their first Sky Bet Championship win of the season as they triumphed 1-0 over Preston.

Vydra's 58th-minute spot-kick had too much power for Chris Maxwell to handle as Gary Rowett's men wrapped up a battling victory.

The Rams had turned up the pressure in the second half following what was an even first 45 minutes in which both sides had chances.

The victory could have been more emphatic for the home side, with Maxwell pulling off a number of good saves to keep the...

Leeds failed to make a man advantage pay as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Preston.

The visitors played the last 30 minutes with one man less after Ben Pearson was sent off for a second bookable offence.

It swung the course of the game as the Yorkshiremen dominated the closing stages in front of a sell-out crowd..

But despite their possession the Whites were unable to make it count, with last season's top scorer Chris Wood off-target with a number of good chances.

Until the red card came the...

Accrington Stanley stun Preston late to advance in Carabao Cup

Billy Kee's last-minute strike saw Accrington dump Championship club Preston out of the Carabao Cup with a dramatic 3-2 win at the Wham Stadium.

Stanley, who opened their League Two campaign with a 3-1 win over Colchester on Saturday, went ahead through defender Ben Richards-Everton in the 20th minute.

Preston, under new boss Alex Neil and on the back of a 1-0 home league win over Sheffield Wednesday, equalised through Jordan Hugill in the 70th minute.

Jordan Clark looked to have won it for...

Billy Kee was the Accrington hero as his injury-time goal saw off Championship side Preston 3-2 in the Carabao Cup.

In a frantic finale, there were three goals in the closing minutes with striker Kee scoring with almost the last touch of the game.

Stanley took the lead in the 20th minute when, from a Sean McConville free-kick, Preston failed to clear their lines and Ben Richards-Everton turned in the area and fired low and hard into the net for his first Accrington goal.

Preston, who made nine changes...
