Cardiff's Craig Bellamy in talks over Oxford United manager's job

Craig Bellamy could replace Pep Clotet at Oxford United.

Former Liverpool and Manchester City forward Craig Bellamy is in talks over the vacant manager's job at League One Oxford United.

The BBC reported that Bellamy, currently the player development manager at Cardiff City, could replace Pep Clotet, sacked by Oxford last month.

Bellamy, 38, was interviewed for the post of Wales coach -- eventually given to Ryan Giggs -- but could now get his first managerial role at the Kassam Stadium.

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock has backed him for the task of reviving...

In-form Plymouth extended their run to just one defeat in 14 League One games with a 1-0 victory at Oxford.

Centre-half Sonny Bradley struck in first-half stoppage time when he met Graham Carey's corner with a powerful header from beyond the far post to claim all three points.

It was a third-straight defeat for managerless Oxford, yet the U's were positive and purposeful in the first half.

James Henry saw his deflected shot beaten out by Argyle goalkeeper Remi Matthews, and Alex Mowatt hit a half-volley...

Rampant Rotherham made it five wins on the bounce after seeing off Oxford 3-1.

Rotherham were ahead after seven minutes with David Ball picking out Anthony Forde in space and the winger rocketed an effort into the top corner from 25 yards.

The lead was almost doubled minutes later when Michael Smith's header was somehow tipped onto the post by the diving Simon Eastwood.

Goalkeeper Eastwood was beaten in the 29th minute after he palmed Joe Newell's stinging effort straight to Richie Towell to tap in.

Bristol Rovers hit back with two goals in 12 minutes in the second half to beat Oxford 2-1 and make it five away league games without defeat.

The Pirates recovered from falling behind very early on with strikes from Kyle Bennett and Ellis Harrison, and they deserved the three points after dominating the second half.

The U's capitalised on a poor clearance by keeper Adam Smith to open the scoring in the second minute.

Isaac Buckley-Ricketts fired the ball forward and Wes Thomas set up Joe Rothwell who...

Oxford twice recovered from a goal down to earn a 3-2 victory at Charlton that undermined the hosts' pursuit of promotion from League One.

Karl Robinson's team had been lifted by an encouraging transfer window but after taking the lead through Ahmed Kashi and then Josh Magennis,

dropped three vital points to goals from James Henry, Todd Kane and then Ryan Ledson, the latter two in the final five minutes.

Charlton, whose match with Blackpool last week was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, remain...
