Millwall slipped to a disappointing 3-0 defeat at home to Oxford but remain in the Sky Bet League One play-off places.

An early Conor McAleny double and Josh Ruffels' second-half header did the damage and lifted the U's to ninth.

Despite early pressure from the hosts, the U's took the lead after five minutes when McAleny fired in from the edge of the box.

The winger, on loan from Everton, then doubled the lead, cutting in from the left and curling into the far corner.

Millwall dominated the opening 25 minutes and played Fleetwood off the park, but ended up paying the price for missed opportunities.

But five minutes later Morison struck from close range to earn a point, one that saw Millwall climb into sixth as Southend lost at Charlton.

Millwall's play-off charge gathered pace with a 2-1 win at struggling Shrewsbury.

The Lions looked the more dangerous side in the early stages and experienced striker Steve Morison twice hammered efforts over the crossbar.

There was little goalmouth action at either end until Millwall broke the deadlock in the 35th minute.

Morison helped on a free-kick from Tony Craig and central defender Byron Webster fired a shot on the turn from 15 yards into the bottom corner of the net.

Shrewsbury almost equalised...
