Socceroos rocked by Vukovic, Boyle injuries

Western United FC show a glimpse of the preparations going into their debut season in the A-League.

Goalkeeper Danny Vukovic will miss the start of the Socceroos' World Cup qualifying campaign, and most likely the majority of the European football season, after he ruptured his achilles.

In more bad news for Australian national team coach Graham Arnold, winger Martin Boyle will have surgery on a knee injury suffered playing for Hibernian and is not expected to play again this year.

Vukovic posted a photo of himself in his hospital bed after surgery on his left leg, which could rule the 34-year-old...

Australia captain Milligan joins Southend

Socceroos skipper Mark Milligan has joined English third-tier outfit Southend United.

The 33-year-old midfielder left Scottish Premiership club side Hibernian in May and has been recruited by the League One club on an initial one-year deal, plus an option for a further year.

"I'm very excited. It's always a process but to be down here now I can't wait to get started," said Milligan, capped 79 times by Australia and who featured at the 2014 and 2018 World Cups.

U.S. defender Jonathan Spector joins Scotland's Hibernian for rest of season

Jonathan Spector
Former Orlando City defender Jonathan Spector has joined Scottish club Hibs for the rest of the season.

Defender Jonathan Spector has signed with Hibernian of Scotland's Premier League after two seasons with Orlando City in Major League Soccer.

Hibs said the 33-year-old from Arlington Heights, Illinois, has agreed to a contract through the rest of the season after Orlando declined the option on his contract for 2019.

Hibs said Friday that Spector had been training with the team and will be available to play after the international break.

Spector told the club's website: "I'm excited to be here. With...

Fan arrested for confronting Rangers captain James Tavernier

Rangers captain James Tavernier was confronted by a fan who was subsequently arrested in an ugly incident during a Scottish Premiership match at Hibernian on Friday which finished in a 1-1 draw.

The man tried to kick the ball away as Tavernier went over to the touchline to take a throw-in before the pair were involved in a scuffle. The fan was led away by police.

Hibernian chief executive Leeann Dempster told the BBC the 21-year-old supporter would be banned from Easter Road for life and that she...

Graham Arnold rejects Hibernian job link: 'I am surprised to learn of the speculation'

Socceroos coach Graham Arnold has belatedly knocked back speculation suggesting he was interested in leaving the national team to coach in Scotland.

Arnold is overseas on leave after Australia's disappointing quarterfinal exit in their Asian Cup title defence.

Three days after an ESPN report emerged stating Arnold was interested in taking up the reins at Hibernian, the 55-year-old rebuffed the suggestion in an FFA statement.

"I am surprised to learn of the speculation," Arnold said. "We have just...
