Teenage substitute Josh Maja marked his first league appearance by hitting the goal that finally ended Sunderland's long wait for a win at the Stadium of Light.

The 18-year-old scored with 13 minutes remaining to ensure Sunderland defeated Fulham 1-0 - securing a first home win since December 17 last year.

It was a tidy finish too from the academy graduate and was enough to lift Sunderland out of the Championship's bottom three against a Fulham side which had won three of its previous four games.

Fulham ran out 1-0 winners over Birmingham, from a first-half Sheyi Ojo effort, to leave their opponents near the foot of the Championship.

The West London side were able to welcome back Tim Ream after missing the last two games, while the injury-hit visitors put in Josh Dacres-Cogley for his first appearance of the season, and Cohen Bramall returned for the first time since August.

But Sergi Canos, Romaine Sawyers and Ollie Watkins hit back for the Bees to clinch the three points that saw them leapfrog Fulham - who had Denis Odoi sent off in the 53rd minute - and move into 11th place.

Oliver Norwood's penalty secured a long-awaited home win for Fulham as they beat Millwall 1-0.

The Northern Ireland midfielder's fourth goal of the season earned Slavisa Jokanovic's side only a second victory at Craven Cottage this season, and a first since September.

Norwood's 45th-minute spot-kick also consigned Millwall to a sixth match without a victory, and they have yet to win away so far this term.

Yet the visitors had plenty of chances against an unconvincing Fulham defence and twice hit the...
