A dress-rehearsal for the Copa Libertadores semis?

In an interview with ESPN, Seattle Sounders star Nicolas Lodeiro discusses how MLS has grown and his desire to return to Boca Juniors before he retires.

On Sunday River Plate meet Boca Juniors in Argentina, while Flamengo face Palmeiras in Brazil.

These are huge league games involving giant clubs who are fighting for the domestic title. And by strange coincidence, they may also serve as rehearsals for the semifinals of the Copa Libertadores, South America's Champions League.

Flamengo eye Liverpool rematch, but first must win the Copa Libertadores

Flamengo defeated Liverpool 3-0 in the 1981 Intercontinental Cup -- one of the high points in Mengao history.

Flamengo prohibited from using training centre following deadly fire

A fire on Friday left 10 people dead and three people injured at Flamengo's training centre in Rio de Janeiro.

The Flamengo training centre where a fire killed 10 academy players and injured three more earlier this month was shut down by the city of Rio de Janeiro due to a lack of proper fire and safety permits.

A note from the city declaring the action was posted on the gate of the "Ninho do Urubu" facility on Wednesday morning.

"Today it was shut down completely, there was a decision and the city government has complied," Rio de Janeiro mayor Marcelo Crivella said in a statement.

"We expect that all the...
