Excelsior winger Ahmad Mendes Moreira, who was subjected to racial abuse on Sunday, was labelled a "pathetic little man" by Den Bosch manager Erik Van der Ven after the player celebrated a goal in front of the home fans.

The racist chanting was directed at Moreira during Excelsior's 3-3 draw at Den Bosch. Moreira walked off the pitch after 30 minutes, supported by his teammates.

Former Colorado Rapids defender Shane O'Neill joins Excelsior

Former Colorado Rapids defender Shane O'Neill has signed for Dutch Eredivisie club Excelsior Rotterdam. 

O'Neill, a former Homegrown player at Colorado, played four seasons with the club, appearing in 52 matches.

He then joined Cyprus' Apollon Limassol in August of 2015 before moving being sent on loan to England, Belgium and Dutch second-division side NAC Breda last summer.

A United States youth international, O'Neill represented his country at the 2013 FIFA Under-20 World Cup.

Former U.S. youth international defender Shane O'Neill has secured a transfer to Dutch Eredivisie side Excelsior from Cypriot club Apollon Limossol.
