Sheffield Wednesday edged ever closer to the Sky Bet Championship play-offs as goals from Steven Fletcher and Gary Hooper gave them a 2-1 win over Derby.

The win was Wednesday's first in 13 home matches against Derby and saw Carlos Carvalhal's side win a fifth consecutive game for the first time since April 2007.

Darren Bent had put the away side ahead early in the second half after beating Kieran Westwood at his near post, but a quick-fire double from Wednesday duo Fletcher and Hooper secured victory...

Huddersfield missed the chance to put the pressure on Newcastle after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Derby - confirming Brighton's promotion to the Premier League.

Former Terriers midfielder Jacob Butterfield levelled with two minutes to go to finally break the spirited Huddersfield defence.

The Terriers had led since Collin Quaner's strike in the ninth minute but Butterfield, who played 50 times for the Yorkshiremen in the 2014-15 season, rifled an unstoppable effort past Danny Ward on 88 minutes.

Steve McClaren wants managerial return, 'angry' about Derby sacking

Steve McClaren was sacked by Derby in March.

Steve McClaren says he is eager to land another job soon after revealing his "anger" at being sacked by Derby County for a second time.

The former England manager was dismissed by Derby in March, having returned to a job he first lost in May 2015, and has yet to find another club.

But the 55-year-old is keen to get back into the dugout and says the manner of his departure from Pride Park has left him hungrier than ever.

"I was shocked and disappointed the way it ended at Derby,'' he told BBC Radio...

Classy Brentford ended Derby's four-game unbeaten run and all but ended their play-off hopes in a comprehensive 4-0 rout at Griffin Park.

A brace each for Lasse Vibe and Spanish winger Jota was no more than the Bees deserved for a scintillating display of passing football that left the Rams chasing shadows.

Brentford took the lead just after the half-hour when Jota's dipping low drive was parried by Derby keeper Scott Carson, only for Vibe to slot home the rebound.

The Bees dominated but only had the...

Tom Ince secured Derby a dramatic 2-1 win over Birmingham as Gary Rowett's side won on his first return to St Andrew's.

It was a cruel blow for Birmingham as they had dominated long spells with a battling performance only to be thwarted by Ince and they remain on the fringes of the Sky Bet Championship relegation zone.

Rowett, dismissed by Birmingham and replaced by Gianfranco Zola, has steered his new side to four games unbeaten and Derby claimed an early lead against his old club.

Jacob Butterfield's...
