Central Coast's woes continue as Brisbane Roar move up into 6th with a 1-0 win.

Brisbane moved into the top-six and held on to their 17-match undefeated A-League record against Central Coast with a tense 1-0 win in Gosford.

It took 86 minutes for the deadlock to break on Saturday when the Roar's Corey Brown saw his strike go in via a wicked deflection off Mariners defender Lewis Miller.

It was a cruel end for the Mariners, who have not beaten the Roar since April 2014.

"That [losing record] had nothing to do with the result today," Mariners coach Alen Stajcic said postmatch....

Western United have burst back to form but their 3-0 A-League win over Central Coast has been soured by an injury to mercurial captain Alessandro Diamanti in Geelong.

Besart Berisha scored twice and Mariners defender Kye Rowles put the ball in his own net, as United surged to a 3-0 lead inside 21 minutes on Sunday afternoon at GMHBA Stadium.

United opened the scoring after just six minutes.

Diamanti eased his way past Gianni Stensness and looped a terrific ball towards Berisha, who powered a header...

A-League midseason review: Sydney FC, Melbourne City lead the pack

We are near the midway point -- curse you, uneven rounds and byes -- of the A-League season. It's time for some perspective.

To this point, it appears the competition this season is broken up into three tiers, as reflected by the ladder: Sydney, Melbourne City to Adelaide United, then the rest. It's the A-League, though, so anything can happen between now and the time the Toilet Seat is lifted in triumph.
