Brisbane Roar goalkeeper Jamie Young 'baffled' by racist abuse

FFA Head of Leagues Craig O'Rourke says plans to expand the A-League are very much on target, but only if the incoming Football Federation Australia board can pick the two successful bids before the end of January.

Brisbane goalkeeper Jamie Young says he's "baffled" at being racially taunted during an A-League game.

Young was called a "monkey" during the Roar's 2-2 A-League draw against Western Sydney in Mudgee on Saturday.

"We had a free kick at the time and someone behind the goal ... made a racist remark," Young told reporters on Sunday.

"I was just surprised, the stadium wasn't very loud at the time, it was just before a play of the game ... everyone could hear, it was baffling to me.

John Aloisi frustrated with Brisbane Roar's slow starts

Melbourne Victory have held on for a 1-0 win over the Newcastle Jets, and pick up their first points of the season in the process.
Adam Le Fondre hit home two goals for Sydney FC on route to a 3-0 win over Melbourne City.

Three rounds into the A-League season and the Brisbane Roar have just two points with coach John Aloisi feeling they are playing well but starting too slowly.

Brisbane opened the season with draws with Central Coast and Wellington ahead of Saturday night's 2-1 loss in Perth.

Aloisi was confident of a strong showing against the Glory but that went out the window when the home team created a host of chances in the opening 20 minutes with Andy Keogh eventually converting.
