Forward Mario Balotelli gave struggling Brescia a 1-0 win at SPAL to lift them off the bottom of the Serie A table on Sunday as Eugenio Corini took charge of the team again a little more than a month after being sacked.

Corini, who lifted Brescia out of Serie B last season, was fired following a defeat at Verona but then rehired after his replacement Fabio Grosso lost all three games in charge and was himself dismissed.

Brescia have sacked coach Fabio Grosso after a string of poor results left the northern side bottom of Serie A, the club said in a statement on Monday.

Former Italy international Grosso is being replaced by Eugenio Corini, whom he took over from in early November, Brescia said in a statement.

Brescia, who were beaten 3-0 at home by neighbours Atalanta on Saturday, have seven points from 13 games.

Brescia owner Massimo Cellino has said forward Mario Balotelli can leave the club on a free transfer in January.
