Southend's home game against Bolton on Saturday was called off due to a frozen pitch.

Referee Charles Breakspear made the decision after a morning inspection at Roots Hall. Tickets will remain valid for the rearranged fixture, or fans can claim a refund from their respective clubs' ticket offices.

A statement on Southend's website read: "The club did everything possible to enable the game to go ahead by applying covers and heaters to vulnerable areas overnight, but unfortunately some areas of the pitch...

Striker Frank Nouble is set to go straight into the Southend squad for the visit of Bolton after signing until the end of the season following his release by Gillingham.

After first win, Sam Allardyce wants Palace to build on FA Cup success

Christian Benteke and Palace came from behind to defeat Bolton.
Christian Benteke rallied Crystal Palace past Bolton and into the FA Cup fourth round.

Sam Allardyce has urged Crystal Palace to build on their 2-1 FA Cup defeat of Bolton by securing a season-changing victory when they host Everton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Two goals in nine minutes from substitute Christian Benteke secured Allardyce's first win as Palace manager at the sixth attempt, earned a fourth-round tie at home to Manchester City, and perhaps more importantly ended a run of eight games without victory.

They remain above the Premier League's bottom three only on goal...

Crystal Palace secured the first victory of Sam Allardyce's reign as manager by progressing to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 replay defeat of Bolton.

An opening hour bereft of belief and James Henry's goal for the visitors left Palace at risk of elimination to League One opposition, but two goals from substitute and club-record signing Christian Benteke eventually gave the manager his first win from six games.

They will next host Manchester City in the competition's next stage, but more...

Yaser Kasim netted an 89th-minute winner as Swindon came from behind to beat Sky Bet League One promotion chasers Bolton 2-1 at the Macron Stadium.

Iraq-born Kasim fired home at the far post from Charlie Colkett's cross to end Town's run of seven league and cup games without victory.

Third-placed Wanderers had gone in front three minutes after the interval with a stunning goal from an unlikely source.

Centre-half David Wheater smashed home a superb volley from Jay Spearing's corner for his fourth goal...
