UEFA to review policy on fans' political protest as Barcelona drop appeal

Barcelona will not appeal their fine for pro-Catalonian independence flags to CAS.

Football fans could win more freedom to make political protests at stadiums in a UEFA review of its disciplinary rules.

Europe's governing body wants existing rules which prohibit non-football statements to "evolve to reflect the nature of the society in which we live."

UEFA's statement on Monday follows Barcelona dropping a Court of Arbitration for Sport appeal against fines imposed for fans supporting Catalonian independence.

It was published as FIFA drew criticism in Britain for upholding its...

The ESPN FC crew discuss Man United's chances of returning to the Champions League after the side's Europa League win.

UEFA charges Zorya Luhansk after objects thrown against Man United

The ESPN FC crew discuss Man United's chances of returning to the Champions League after the side's Europa League win.
The FC panel discuss Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Wayne Rooney's respective performances in Man United's win over Zorya Luhansk.

Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk have been charged by UEFA over the crowd incidents that occurred during their Europa League defeat to Manchester United.

UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Zorya over the setting off of fireworks, throwing of objects, pitch invasion and the blocking of stairways following Thursday night's game in Odessa.

A firecracker had landed worryingly close to United goalkeeper Sergio Romero during the opening 45 minutes and visiting boss Jose Mourinho, who was otherwise...

Skenderbeu 'baffled' by further UEFA inquiry into match-fixing

The president of Albanian club Skenderbeu is "baffled" by the news that UEFA may impose a further ban after already enduring a season-long exclusion from Europe.

Emilio Garcia, the head of UEFA's disciplinary and integrity unit, on Wednesday said at a panel session on match-fixing at the International Sports Convention that "the UEFA disciplinary bodies are considering real disciplinary measures" and that this season's exclusion was a "preliminary ban."

"We have not been notified at all. We believed...

'Jam-packed' fixture list puts players' health at risk - Karl-Heinz Rummenigge

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has again criticised the "jam-packed" football calendar, saying the fixture burden is putting players' health at risk.

Rummenigge, 61, also serves as the chairman of the European Club Association (ECA) and questioned the future role of international football last month.

"The football calendar is absolutely jam-packed," he told FAZ. "Players are being stretched to the limit and FIFA and UEFA carry responsibility for that. It can't go on like this.

"Who...
