Kevin De Bruyne agent to use Neymar pay as bargaining chip in contract talks

Juan Mata wants to stay at Manchester United and continue working under Jose Mourinho.

With the January window on the horizon, there's plenty brewing in the transfer market. All the latest deals and potential deals can be found here.

TOP STORY: De Bruyne's agent eager to push City to offer pay-rise

Kevin De Bruyne has been in sensational form for Manchester City, emerging as one of the elite playmakers in European football, and the Telegraph reports that the Belgium international's representative will push for a pay increase to match his status.

The 26-year-old has produced seven assists and scored two goals himself while pulling the strings as Pep Guardiola's side have strung 10 successive wins together.

De Bruyne is eyeing up a contract comparable to that of PSG superstar Neymar, who is banking £32 million-per-year -- roughly £615,000-per-week.

De Bruyne still has four years remaining on his contract, which is currently worth £6m-per-year, though City have factored in enough bonuses to enable him to push that up to £15.6m.

Cole to snub return to England for LA stay

Ashley Cole is looking to extend his stay with LA Galaxy after knocking back offers to return to England, according to the Independent.

The former Chelsea and Arsenal left-back has been in Los Angeles for two years after a disappointing spell with Roma.

"I want to be here. We're speaking. It's in their court with me," the 36-year-old said.

The Galaxy are likely to make extensive changes this off-season and Cole could be dispensable when his contract runs out at the end of the year. It means a start to a coaching career could begin in 2018, just like Steven Gerrard, if a new deal is not forthcoming.

Saints eye Barcelona striker

The Mirror reckons that Southampton are ready to offer Paco Alcacer a route out of the Camp Nou to end his Barcelona nightmare.

The former Valencia striker scored just eight goals in his debut campaign for the Blaugrana after a €30m move.

And it hasn't been any different under Ernesto Valverde after Luis Enrique left this summer; the 24-year-old is still on the fringes of the squad and has failed to find the back of the net this season.

Ligue 1 side Lille are also in the running with Alcacer keen to move in January to kickstart his faltering career.

Tap-ins

-- Another day, another star in the making in Brazil. The latest name you need to know is Lincoln, who plays for Flamengo and is currently on duty for the Selecao at the Under-17 World Cup in India.

Flamengo recently sold another talent waiting in the wings, Vinicius Jr., to Real Madrid, and this time around it's Los Blancos' rivals Barcelona who are looking to make a move, according to AS.

As was the case with Vinicius, who was reportedly sold for €45 million, Lincoln won't come cheaply. The Brazilian club have a valuation of €30 million for the forward, who has scored three goals for Brazil in India as they try to reach the quarterfinals in a Wednesday match against Honduras.

-- With Carlo Ancelotti out and Jupp Heynckes in, James Rodriguez could find himself as the odd man out at Bayern Munich. James was brought into the team from Real Madrid by the Italian boss, who parted ways with the club after a stuttering start to their Champions League campaign, and the Colombia international might now look to cut short his loan deal with the Bavarians, the Daily Mail says.

-- Manchester United are keeping tabs on Spain under-21 left-back Aaron Martin, sources have told ESPN FC.

United scouts watched Martin, 20, play for Espanyol against Levante on Friday night, and the club have asked to be kept informed of any developments regarding his future.
