Philippines start Sven-Goran Eriksson's reign with AFF Cup win over Singapore

The Philippines prevailed 1-0 over Singapore in Group B courtesy of a late winner by Patrick Reichelt.

Sven-Goran Eriksson started his stint as Philippines head coach with a 1-0 win over Singapore in their AFF Suzuki Cup opener on Tuesday evening.

The former England manager was appointed last month to lead Philippines through the tournament before taking the Azkals to their first appearance at the finals of the Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates in January.

The Swede, though, has work to do if he is to build a team that will make much of an impression at the continental championships early next...

Hariss Harun scored the only goal of the game as Singapore surprised 2016 finalists Indonesia with Fandi Ahmad's side claiming a 1-0 win in the AFF Suzuki Cup.
